Psychosocial Approaches and Discursive Gaps in Intersex Healthcare

Abstract Background In the past several decades, conflicting discourses have coexisted in field of intersex studies, including pathologizing discourse biomedical disciplines and affirmative, subjective psychosocial people born with bodies their advocates. Intersex activists call for a positive humanistic healthcare approach that accepts protects bodily autonomy change continuing harmful, traumatic treatments aimed at normalizing variations sex characteristics (VSC). Methods We created collaborative German-Israeli action study, 30 health care professionals, scholars from Israel Germany, were gathered to learn different perspectives on intersexuality, interact work together projects aim improve families.
